Macmillan HOPE Course Facilitator Volunteer- Scarborough

Opportunity image

This role is designed to deliver Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘Help to Overcome Problems Effectively’ (HOPE) Course to patients with cancer.

This is an opportunity to support the Trust in their delivery of a nationally-recognised support course for patients who have experienced cancer.

The HOPE Course (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively) helps people manage the day-to-day impact cancer has on their lives and rediscover their strengths after treatment ends.

It is an interactive, group-based, self-management support course, which runs for 6 weeks, with each weekly session lasting 2.5 hours.

In this role, you will be asked to lead the facilitation of HOPE Courses alongside other volunteers or colleagues from the Trust's Cancer Wellbeing Service. You will need to undertake bespoke training delivered by Macmillan Cancer Support; following this, you will be added to the Trust's bank of facilitators and be offered opportunities to lead courses on an ad hoc basis (we expect each volunteer to facilitate at least 2 cohorts each year, but there may be additional opportunities depending on the level of demand for the course).

Volunteering as a HOPE Facilitator is an exciting opportunity to deliver information and support to people in need while developing your facilitative and supportive care skills.

We will provide the curriculum and content for each session, as well as any resources required to deliver the course.

If you would like to discuss the role or the HOPE Facilitator training in more detail, please contact the Cancer Wellbeing Service using the contact details below:
